Abstract:

1 page fact sheet on the technology trends of Bioremediation

Bioremediation is a waste management technique that involves the use of organisms to remove or neutralize pollutants from a contaminated site. The applied technologies can be classified as in situ or ex situ. In situ bioremediation involves treating the contaminated material at the site, while ex situ comprises the removal of the contaminated material to be treated elsewhere. Bioremediation provides a cost- effective clean-up technology that accelerates naturally occurring biodegradation processes, compared to traditional site remediation approaches.
